Wähja Festival (Crayfish Festival)

The crayfish season in Estonia lasts throughout August! Just at the end of the first week of August we are waiting for all the old and new friends of the Wähja Festival (Crayfish Festival) in Ao village, Väike-Maarja. There will be a local product market, where you can find food and handicrafts, enjoy various performances and activities for the whole family or participate in a Mermaid Triathlon. The star of the market is of course the crayfish and from the catering area you can find both fish dishes and crayfish soup as well as Estonian river crayfish.

We adore good company, clean local food and natural richness, energetic and skillful people around us, carefree and cheerful summer atmosphere, and that is exactly what this festival offers. We are looking forward to seeing you!

The Crayfish Festival offers:

  • Tasting various crayfish dishes – from boiled crayfish to crayfish ice cream.
  • Crayfish sample cathing
  • Enjoying concert.
  • Listening to crayfish-themed lectures by scientists.
  • Learning about crayfish at the Environmental Board's tent.
  • Exploring the local food and craft fair.
  • Relaxing in the sauna.
  • Having fun in the children's area.
